Is SayControl cheaper than Typeless?

Paid monthly, by a lot: $12 a month against $30. Paid yearly, Typeless comes to the same $12 a month, but that is $144 up front. SayControl has no yearly plan, so you can stop after any month.

How many free words does Typeless give?

Its pricing page says “limited words each week” without a number, and a post on its blog in August said 8,000. Check the app for today’s figure. SayControl’s free plan is 2,000 words a week, every week, plus 10 agent conversations to try.

Is Typeless’s Ask anything the same as asking ChatGPT in SayControl?

No. Typeless answers with its own AI, in a card over what you’re doing. SayControl opens your question in ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or Perplexity, already asked, so the answer is in the AI you already use. For rewriting selected text, Typeless’s Ask anything and SayControl’s command mode do the same job.

Does Typeless work with Claude Code?

You can dictate prompts into it, as into any app. It doesn’t tell you when an agent has finished or needs permission. SayControl does, out loud, and you answer the same way.

Which keeps my audio?

Neither keeps it on its servers. Both keep recordings on your device: Typeless in its History, for as long as you choose; SayControl your latest 1,000 clips, which you can turn off.

What does SayControl not do?

It runs only on a Mac, it translates only selected text, into English, it covers 60+ languages to Typeless’s 100+, and its AI features are on Pro. If you need another platform, translation or AI on the free plan, Typeless is the better pick.

Two ideas

Its AI, or yours

Typeless builds an assistant into dictation. Press Fn and Space and Ask anything takes over: rewrite what you selected, ask about it, get a quick web answer in a card, or have it draft from a few words. It’s on every plan, and it’s pitched as a way to skip the trip to ChatGPT.

SayControl makes that trip for you instead. Say “ask Claude how to fix this” and Claude opens with the question already asked, in the AI you already use. End a dictation on “…and ask ChatGPT” and the whole thing, screenshot and all, becomes the question. Command mode handles the rewrites: “make it shorter”, “make it formal”.

Typeless lists Claude, Codex and Cursor among the places you can dictate, and that’s the extent of it: you speak, it types.

SayControl also listens for the agents. It sums up what each one did and says it out loud: that a session finished, hit a limit or wants permission. Lean back, answer by voice, and the reply goes into that session.

What happens to your voice

Both send your voice to the cloud and neither keeps it there. Both keep recordings on your device so you can replay them. Typeless’s privacy policy also names Google Analytics, and its trust centre lists Mixpanel.
