Terms

The terms, in plain words.

The licence to the app, how the plans work, what we promise about the service and what we don’t. Short enough to actually read.

Last updated 13 October 2026. Questions: support@saycontrol.com.

The agreement

These terms are between you and Sorower Hossan, trading as SayControl (“we”). They cover the SayControl app for macOS, the website at https://www.saycontrol.com, and the cloud dictation service the app uses. By installing the app, signing in or subscribing to Pro you agree to them. If you do not, do not use the app.

The licence to the app

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use SayControl on Macs you own or control. The app is licensed, not sold; it is ours, and everything in it that is not yours stays ours.

You may not sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app, remove its notices, or reverse engineer it except where the law lets you regardless of this paragraph. You may not use it to break the law or to interfere with the service that other people use.

Your account

The app needs an account: your plan belongs to it and follows you across Macs. You sign in with Google or with an email address and a password; keep that login to yourself, because whatever is done with it is done by you as far as we can tell.

You must be at least 16 to hold an account.

The plans

Free includes 2,000 words of cloud dictation a week, with auto cleanup, tones per app, dictionary and phrases. The week starts again every Monday at 00:00 UTC; unused words do not roll over. The free words belong to your account and to the Mac you dictate on: every account on one Mac shares that Mac’s 2,000. They are a gift, not a balance, and we may change or end them with notice on this page.

Pro is $12 a month, for unlimited cloud dictation by you, with command mode, spoken controls and asking an AI from inside a dictation. It renews every month until you cancel. Cancel any time from the app; Pro then runs to the end of the month you paid for, and no further payment is taken. Purchases are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record, under Paddle’s buyer terms; the receipt comes from Paddle.

Enterprise is agreed with each team, in writing, and those terms sit alongside these.

Words are counted from the text the service writes for you, as it arrives. A dictation that fails on our side is not counted.

We may change the price of Pro. A new price applies from the first billing month that starts after we have told you by email, and you can cancel before it does. Refunds are covered on the refund page.

Fair use

Every plan is for dictation by you, through the app. You may not resell the service, share an account across many people, run recordings or other people’s audio through it, script the service outside the app, or work around the free words, for example by making accounts to get more of them. One account can dictate on up to three Macs at once. If use goes far beyond one person’s dictation, we may ask you about it, or close the account and refund the rest of a paid Pro month.

What the service depends on

Cloud dictation runs on third-party speech-recognition and language-model providers, reached only through our servers. If one of them is down or slow, so are we, and we may switch providers to keep the app working. Dictation needs an internet connection and the service; without them, it does not work.

Transcription is not perfect. The words that land are the model’s best guess, cleaned up by another model; read them before you send them. Command mode rewrites text you selected, and one ⌘Z puts it back, but it is your text and your responsibility.

Your content

What you dictate is yours. We claim no rights in it. On cloud dictation it passes through our servers and our providers only as far as is needed to turn it into text, as the privacy policy describes, and is not kept.

No warranty

The app and the service are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that they are error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose. Nothing here limits rights that consumer law gives you and does not let us limit.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, lost profit, or anything that follows from a transcript being wrong, and our total liability to you for anything arising out of the app or the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not let us limit.

Ending things

You can stop using the app at any time, cancel Pro, and delete your account from Settings → Account in the app. We can close an account that breaks these terms. Either way, the licence to the app ends when you delete it, and the sections about content, warranty and liability survive.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of the place the business is registered, and disputes go to its courts, without taking away protections you have as a consumer where you live.

Changes

When we change these terms the date at the top changes, and a change that affects your plan or your rights is also mentioned in the app’s release notes. Using the app after a change means you accept it.
