SayControl

Dictation that does what you say.

SayControl types your words into any Mac app, cleans up the ums, and handles commands like “take a screenshot” right where you said them.

As you talk, SayControl removes fillers like “um” and repeated words, spells names right, writes numbers and email addresses properly, and carries out commands like “take a screenshot”, “attach the PDF from downloads”, “copy the file path”, “copy the link”, “polish it”, “send it”, “and ask ChatGPT” and “tell all agents to commit”.

Try it. Pick something to say.

That picture is this page, taken the instant you said the words.

How it works

Hold, talk, let go.

SayControl sits in your menu bar and works in every app you already use. There is nothing new to learn.

  1. fn
    1

    Hold fn

Put your cursor anywhere you can type, then press and hold the fn key.

  2. attach the PDF
    2

    Talk

Speak normally. Add a command mid-sentence, like “attach the PDF”.

  3. Here are the numbers:report.pdf
    3

    Let go

Your words and whatever you asked for land at the cursor, already tidy.

Works wherever your cursor is, including

  • Mail
  • Slack
  • Notes
  • Messages
  • Safari
  • Chrome
  • Notion
  • VS Code
  • Terminal
  • Claude
  • ChatGPT
  • Google Docs

Commands

Say a command mid-sentence. It happens right there.

Other dictation apps only type. On Pro, SayControl also takes screenshots, attaches files, pastes links and writes terminal commands, all by voice.

Here's the bug I mentioned: . It happens on every refresh.

The screen your mouse is on, taken the instant you say the words. SayControl hides its own pill first, so it never appears in its own screenshot.

Clean-up

Talk the way you talk. Read it the way you’d write it.

The ums, repeats and false starts are removed before anything is pasted. You choose how much gets cleaned up.

Cleanup level

What you said

“so I think we should, we should probably just um ship the thing on Friday you know and then like see what happens”

So I think we should probably just ship the thing on Friday, you know, and then see what happens.

  • Lists and paragraphs

Say “first… second…” and get a numbered list. Change topic and get a new paragraph.

  • Emails and prices

“name at gmail dot com” becomes name@gmail.com. “Twenty five dollars” becomes $25.

  • Words appear as you speak

Live streaming replies in about 150 ms, so text is ready the moment you let go.

  • Code stays untouched

In Xcode, VS Code, JetBrains and other editors, nothing gets rewritten.

For Claude Code and Codex

Your coding agents, on speaker.

Run agents in the background and get on with your day. SayControl speaks up when one needs you, and you answer by voice.

  • It tells you when an agent needs you

A session finished, stopped on a rate limit, or wants permission to run something. You hear what happened, out loud.

  • Answer without switching windows

Say the next instruction and it goes straight into that session. Say “yes” or “no” to a permission, or “skip” to leave it.

  • Talk to all of them at once

Ask “any updates?”, tell every session what to do, or have them go quiet for an hour while you focus.

Try saying

  • “any updates?”
  • “tell all agents to commit”
  • “pause monitoring for 30 minutes”
  • “resume monitoring”

One switch turns it on. Nothing to install in either agent.

Features

It learns your words, and the tone of every app.

The more you use it, the better it gets.

It learns you

Fix a word once and it sticks. It reads names off your screen before you speak, and expands shortcuts you set up.

Private by design

Your audio is turned into words, and none of it is kept.

  • Your audio is never kept on our servers
  • Transcripts and your dictionary stay on your Mac
  • No API keys to paste, rotate or leak

The right tone in every app

A text to a friend stays casual. An email gets its greeting on its own line. Only punctuation and layout change, never your words.
